Friends of The Strand Practice
The "Friends of the Strand Practice" is a registered charity formed several years ago to strengthen links between the practice and its patients. As a Patient Participation Group (PPG) its three primary roles are Education, Fundraising and Communication.
Education: The group arranges educational talks and meetings with the help of various professionals. Health professionals have given talks on such matters as heart problems and St Barnabas Hospice.
Fundraising: The group arranges activities to raise money for equipment which will be of direct benefit to patients of the Strand Practice. For a full list of our purchases see our notice boards in the waiting room.
Communication: We have a small space in the Patients Newsletter, called "Friends Corner". We also have notice boards in the surgery waiting room where items of interest to patients are displayed along with a list of our committee members.
Latest News from Friends of the Strand Practice - Annual Doctors' Talk
Our popular annual doctors talk was held on Wednesday 26 May 2010. This included "A Day in the Life of a GP Registrar" by Dr Matt Davies, "The Patient Voice" by Jane Kimber, the Practice Manager and a talk on "Unique Care" by one of our Nurses, Julie Midwinter. There was also opportunity for a "Question Time" given by doctors and nurses of the Strand Medical Group.
The Practice would like to thank the Friends for their support in making this event possible.
